Come Home to Your Body

Your body is where you live. Though this sounds simple, so many of us have “moved out” and reside somewhere outside of our bodies, waiting until “someday, maybe” we will be acceptable in our eyes and in the eyes of our culture to “move back in.” The media is a constant reinforcement, mostly for economic and political reasons, that we are not enough: not good enough, not thin enough, not pretty enough, not sexy enough. We are then sold an endless barrage of “stuff” – diet products, fashion, makeup, and pushed to engage in the never-ending quest to become desirable in this distorted system.

The problem is not that this condition exists; the problem is that it’s so endemic; we don’t even realize that we are not fully living in our bodies. Until now! Over the past few years, pockets of awareness have sprouted up where women are beginning to love, accept, and stand in their identity, regardless of size, shape, or condition. These wounds go deep and are often hidden from our conscious awareness.

The purpose of EMBODYMENT is to awaken and deepen your presence in yourself and in your body, to welcome you home to yourself, and to love, accept, and celebrate your body.

With EMBODYMENT, you are invited to join Kate, Catherine, and a community of women in this process, where you can embrace yourself and the body you have, just as it is, in this very moment, each and every day.

Over the course of five live sessions with Kate and Catherine, we clear out the myths and lies we tell ourselves in order to make space for you to experience the truth of your body. You will have a toolkit to take into your life to continue the process each day.

Module 1

How Did We Get Here Anyway? A History of Women’s Bodies over Centuries and the Essence of Self-Care

  • Welcome and introduction to EMBODYMENT.
  • Body image, body ownership – how it’s changed over the centuries.
  • Guest: Karen Dill-Shackleford, PhD (Media Psychologist and expert on media and body image)
  • ASSESSMENT: Where’s your place now?
  • Create a list of at least 50 ways you can care for yourself and your body.
  • Wanting to change – how it holds everything in place.
  • EXERCISE: List what you want to change about yourself and your body.
  • HOMEWORK: Release what you want to change about yourself and your body, and choose at least one action from your self-care list every day.
  • Meditation: Introduction to the benefactor meditation of unconditional love.

Module 2

Questions, Questions, Questions: Learning to Discriminate Your Own Truth

 

  • Welcome back – What did you discover about yourself and your body this past week?
  • EMBODYMENT – What is the state of presence and empowerment in your body?
  • What is your ideal state? How do you want to feel?
  • What obstacles are in the way? What are external? What are internal?
  • Wanting to control and wanting approval.
  • EXERCISE: List what you want to control and what you want approval for about yourself and your body.
  • HOMEWORK: Release what you want to control/want approval for about yourself and your body, and choose at least one action from your self-care list every day.
  • Meditation: Benefactor meditation of self-compassion.

Module 3

Your Body’s Wisdom: Intuition and Learning to Recognize that “Gut Feeling”

 

  • Welcome back – What did you discover about yourself and your body this past week?
  • EMBODYMENT – How w/a & w/c sets you up for failure and leads to wanting security as the core impulse.
  • How to take back your power.
  • How does intuition manifest in your body – what does it feel like – how can you recognize its presence.
  • EXERCISE: List ways you want security and the ways you are listening to yourself and your body’s signals.
  • HOMEWORK: Release what you are w/c, w/a & w/s about yourself and your body, and choose at least one action from your self-care list every day.
  • Meditation: Benefactor meditation on intuition and relationship.

Module 4

Radical Trust: Your Body Knows

  • Welcome back – What did you discover about yourself and your body this past week?
  • EMBODYMENT – How w/a & w/c & w/s separates you from your inner knowing.
  • Distrust, powerlessness, helplessness, and giving up.
  • What is radical trust in your body? What does it feel like? How does it speak to you and how can you listen?
  • Truly communicate with your own body.
  • EXERCISE: List times you trusted yourself and the outcome.
  • HOMEWORK: Release envisioning your ideal self and body and choose at least one action from your self-care list every day. Note ways you are listening to and learning to trust your body.
  • Meditation: Benefactor meditation on radical trust.

Module 5

Welcome Home: Living in Your Body and a Celebration of Presence

  • Welcome back – What did you discover about yourself and your body this past week?
  • EMBODYMENT – Releasing and gains – who is present now.
  • Listening, radical trust, intuition, and right action.
  • EXERCISE: List ways you are present for yourself and your body.
  • Meditation: Benefactor meditation on unconditional love and presence.
